Made in collaboration with programmer Brian-Michael Thornton for the MART @ Big Picture show as part of Rua Red's Glitch festival, Tallaght, Dublin, in August 2011.
I video'd exhibition goers playing simple instruments I made in the two days prior to the performance. I used a touch screen computer monitor to trigger the different loops from Brian-Michael's HTML5 software (using Google Chrome browser), which was projected on a wall in front of many of the people who featured in the videos. I had access to 4 videos per module, with 16 modules. I had the option to loop or play once, and a volume control per module.
The name "Forrest For The Trees" relates to individual participants not being aware of the part their recordings would play in the context of the finished piece. Only I had a view of the bigger picture.
