A few thoughts, questions and answers regarding my most recent outing to see the return of the 90's R&B sensation, Next at Trocaderos Nightclub:
'RL' can sing and write his ass off! And he's definitely all grown up, lookin' extra buff and cocoa buttery. The braces are off and he's doing his thing.
I was too happy to see 'T-Lo' back in effect. It's been a minute since I've been in his presence. He's real cool and huggable (Big Homey style) and I missed his smooth, velvety voice.
I was disappointed 'Tweet the Freak' didn't join them on stage. Where the puff is this guy? Straight up M.I.A. -- Next just aint the same without Tweet.
Q. Who is the new addition to Next (Tweetys replacement)?
A. Deponce, the self proclaimed "Street Prince of R&B".
Q. Where is Deponce from?
We didn't get any sort of introduction. That's kind of rude don't cha think? I can however attest to his sexiness.
Q. Is this random appearance from the new Next part of a tour?
A. Can't say for sure.
Q. Is a new album forthcoming?
In 2006, Next signed to Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment label. On April 2, 2007, R.L. revealed on the Frank Ski & Wanda Morning Show on V-103 in Atlanta, that their new album would be entitled "Sex Toy". The title has since been changed to "Next, Lies, & Videotape". R.L. is also said to be working on his second solo album. [source]
Ummm...it's 2009. You do the math.
The overall turn out and crowd participation was on point. Especially considering the minimal, if any, advertising done for the show-show. It was word of mouth that brought the people of Minnesota together to see our guys do their thang. Alot of old school Minnesota classics (peoples) were in the building. Straight up blasts from the past.
Damn, I have BIG, LOUD, MOUTH when I'm sippin' on the Grand Marnier. There are a several clips I can't even post for all of the singing (if that's what you want to call it) screeching, sounding like an alley cat in heat, cheering, and shouting I was doing. Good Lawd! People, working with video and audio is teaching me a thing or two about my demeanor. But ya'll love it! Besides, the more I know, the more I grow. Work with me! I'll get to a place of refinement...one day.
Overall, I had a lovely Minnesota time.
