As blobologists, we process the world through pre/post-verbal filters and negotiate the gaps with nuanced expressions.
The boundary-blurring qualities of the word “blob” and its ability to transcend time and space may not a coincidence.
Conceptualized in Seoul, South Korea, after experiencing difficulties explaining and translating the word "blob" to my family in Korean and observing on/off-line digital and new media artists exhibiting blobist tendencies in their work, "Entering the Blobosphere: A Musing on Blobs" uses the American-English word “blob” as a tactical terminology to investigate its cross-disciplinary and colloquial application, and to extract blobist tendencies that derive from gesture, nuance, and repetition.
