Born into a family of scientists, product designer Carolijn Slottje became fascinated at an early age by the way nature innovates, adapts, cleans, recycles, and constructs. Slottje looks at how nature designs itself. She uses the same rules and design language by combining handicraft with nature. Journalist Tracy Metz interviewed Carolijn Slottje during the Milan Design Week 2018 for the interview series Human Nature - designing the equilibrium.
About Human Nature - designing the equilibrium
How do we ensure balance between humans and nature? What instruments do we have at our disposal and how does this reflect on a future that we can look forward to with more awareness and greater sensitivity? Under the title Human Nature - designing the equilibrium, eleven designers and brands answer questions about a future in which Humankind and Nature enter into a new relationship.
