Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering student, Patrick McLaughlin, spent a year working as a Systems Engineer at the Centre for Modelling & Simulation. On placement, Patrick learnt about programming and machine learning and worked on a project to develop a RaspberryPi robot.
A placement year is a great opportunity to get paid while you learn alongside professional engineers in a commercial environment.
