HYPERSPACE is a solo performance by James Batchelor and Collaborators about the deep unknowns of the universe, shifting scales from the massive to the infinitesimal. It proposes a study of the human body seen through the prism of cosmology, a mapping of the universe within and around it.
The work ultimately questions the role of humans in space exploration and travel, highlighting the fragility and mortality of the body.
HYPERSPACE is the third in a series of works from the Australian choreographer that grew from a unique opportunity to be part of a scientific expedition to the Antarctic in 2016. This series of work including endeavours to create a conversation, collaboration and exchange between scientific and artistic inquiry.
