Andung Kelana, one of the co-founders of Forum Lenteng discusses the organization’s primary goal to study various cultural problems in society and to support and enhance opportunities for empowering social and cultural studies in Indonesia. Some of the programs and workshops that are presented include:
Akumassa (eye public) – media literacy program for young people to utilize digital media resources to gather and then publish a book to raise awareness on several important social, governmental and environmental issues in Indonesia.
Halaman Papua – media literacy program managed by Forum Lenteng in four districts in Papua to encourage local communities to utilize creative works by using alternative media (Internet, documentary film, printed text to enhance public awareness of health and health care in Papua.
Videobase – a research project for video development and usage as a medium in Indonesia.
DVD For All &
Book for All – a distribution program on educational-cultural media based on text media and AV media to help bridge the gap in communication and misunderstanding of information.
Visualjalana.org – photo project documenting the poor management of the country’s public roads and streets.
