El (Elmer) Ulmer
November 8, 1931 – August 23, 2018
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elmer at the age of 86 on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in Kelowna, BC. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend to many. Elmer was born November 8, 1931 in Melville, Saskatchewan, (close to Lorlie), and lived most of his life in Regina where he met and married Joan, his wife of 65 years. El was a printer for over 60 years and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball as shortstop for the Barker Gems, continuing to play for many years after his retirement. He built a wonderful cottage on Last Mountain Lake that he & Joan enjoyed for 20 years until they retired to Kelowna BC, where they lived the Okanagan life for the past 22 years. Elmer was a kind man, always active, energetic and as sharp as a tack. He treated people equally and with respect and really listened to what they had to say before judging them. El was always ready to share a laugh with his man friends and always happy to say a friendly hello to everyone. He loved to play bridge, billiards, golf and cribbage and was an active Christian man with much faith in his belief. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, his son Jeff (Marianne) & daughter Kelly (Dave); 2 grandsons, Christian (Amanda) and Cameron; 5 sisters and 1 brother. We lost a wonderful person and El will be greatly missed.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Postlude by Frieda Schwarz
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want; He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
Scripture Reading~ Revelation 21:3-5
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.
The Gospel ~ John 14:1-6
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
