Henry A. J. Ramos, Senior Editor and Project Consultant at Arte Público Press, hosted the first in a series of four virtual discussions gathering social impact innovators, thought leaders and changemakers to outline a progressive new vision for next-generation civic engagement, economic security, justice and shared prosperity in the United States.
For this discussion, Ramos welcomed Angela Glover Blackwell, Founder in Residence at PolicyLink;
Susan Henderson, Executive Director of the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund; and
Dr. Manuel Pastor, Director of the Program for Environmental & Regional Equity at the University of Southern California.
Together the panel discussed pressing challenges to democratic inclusion; identified opportunities to harmonize and strengthen progressive pro-democracy efforts; and shared actionable strategies to foster more just, responsive and effective policymaking in America.
Presented in partnership with Arte Público Press, this virtual discussion series is part of a research and public engagement project led by author and researcher Henry A. J. Ramos to surface actionable ideas for reinvigorating American democracy and prosperity sharing in the 21st century.
His forthcoming book, Democracy and the Next American Economy: Where Prosperity Meets Justice, will be published by Arte Público Press on April 30, 2019. Visit artepublicopress.com for details.
