Window/Spacetime(2018), Awazuhara looks at cafes, stores and restaurants in Berlin that are named after faraway cities or countries. Footage of everyday eating and drinking scenarios connect with the promise of the remote. The camera sweeps through the city observing day-to-day routines of different people and slows down the viewer's gaze by concentrating on detail. Clichés are thereby appropriated and reinterpreted by the living reality of this city. Awazuhara manages to create a sensitive and humorous topography of today's Berlin, in a city which is shaped by its immigration- and migrant-work history.
