Ohio attorney Jay Kelley recalls a case in which a woman who chose a simple outpatient procedure to avoid a long hospitalization and complication got just that.
After her surgery, our client was given a medication that works against pain medication. This was unbeknownst to the following doctors who gave her pain med to help her recover from her surgery. Of course this led to more pain meds and at higher doses as nothing was helping.
More pain meds and higher doses lead to complications such as respiratory problems and ultimately to her aspirating as the contents of her stomach began to enter her lungs.
The poor communication within the medical team led to this horrible outcome and was made even worse when they began finger pointing at each other when questioned about the truth of the incident.
