Ohio attorney Bill Campbell wants to discuss with you the most common forms of injury within a nursing home facility.
Whether it’s your parent, grandparent or any loved one, you want to feel secure that they are safe and well taken care of in any nursing home environment. But the truth is injuries do happen and sometimes the staff is at fault.
One of the most common injuries a patient can suffer is that of a bed sore (or pressure wound, as they are sometimes called). A bed sore is a breakdown of the skin after it has been under too much pressure for a long period of time. Basically, if you lie on your back for days on end you can develop a sore. This bed sore can range in severity from a bruise-like appearance to an actual hole in the body. To prevent this, nursing staff is supposed to offload (or reposition) the patient’s body consistently to ensure this does not happen. However, it’s one of the most overlooked and forgotten things in a nursing home. These bed sores can develop into serious complications and even result in a patient’s death.
