As recent news has shown, states all over the country has begun legalizing gay marriage and making it more accessible for couples. But you might question how it differs from your domestic partnership and if you're able to convert that union into a marriage. In Washington, the state already recognizes your domestic partnership as a union and awards you rights. Basically with new legislation, your domestic partnership will be automatically turned into a marriage by 2014.
