In the 1990s, artificially intelligent robots were made illegal in the aftermath of a national disaster. From then on, robots who were given AI were decommissioned and scrapped all across America. But Joel, a young, poor boy from a desert town, looking for companionship; builds himself a friend amongst the backdrop of a pre-dystopian world. What transpires from there is wrought with existentialist thoughts, conspiracy theories, mistrust, and an overwhelming desire to get out of their small town.
