The use of contactless bank cards, often referred to as contactless EMV (cEMV), to ride on public transit exploded onto the scene a few years ago with Transport for London’s successful launch of their contactless system. These contactless systems work by using an Account-Based back office to work out the correct fare to charge a passenger based on the taps made across a transport network.
This has heralded a better way to move around urban areas by freeing passengers from needing to purchase a ticket before traveling.
At Masabi we believe this new experience of using public transit by using a contactless bank card should not just be available to agencies with a few hundred million to spend. It should be available to every passenger and to every agency without a prohibitive cost. Learn more: masabi.com/contactless-emv-ticketing/
