Nelson Street in Bristol city centre was closed for a week this summer, and international graffiti artists invited to make it Europe's largest outdoor art gallery. DJ's entertained spectators as different styles of artwork decorated the once-dull walls.
I grew up in Bristol and doubt I have ever looked up in this street. On the Saturday two weeks after the project was finished, the street had become a tourist attraction, with people of all ages stopping to gawp and take pictures.
All our cities should look like this.
