Listen as attorney Patrick Hartwig explains what to do if Social Security denies your application for disability benefits.
If your Social Security Disability application is denied, you should file an appeal of their decision online at the Social Security website. This must be done within 60 days of the denial.
Social Security will then respond by sending you a group of forms and paperwork similar to those you have filled out previously. Many of the questions will deal with your daily activities. You’ll need to complete and return this information as soon as possible.
Next, be prepared for another denial and round of appealing, as it is routine for Social Security to deny applicants the first and second times. In the third round, you will need to be ready to request a hearing in front of a Social Security judge, which is the best chance for you to be approved. Watch the video to learn more.
