Taken from their 2004 studio album 'African Holocaust', the song 'Door Of No Return' encapsulates the African diaspora through the infamous door at The House of Slaves on Gorée Island, where many people were taken through never to see their home again. David Hinds from Steel Pulse, wanted a video that didn't hold back in telling the story of the song, and something authentically shot on location.
After seeing our 'Big Chief' Music Video for Bankie Banx, Hinds invited Driftwood Pictures to produce this ambitious video. We shot on location in Senegal, on Goree Island and in Brooklyn NYC to tell the story of a man that was once a prince, only to become a slave.
Shot on Sony Z1 HDV with a crew of 3. The video premiered at the BFI 51st London Film Festival on October 2007, coinciding with the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery in Britain during Black History Month.
