Henry A. J. Ramos, Senior Editor and Project Consultant at Arte Público Press, hosted the second in a series of four virtual discussions gathering social impact innovators, thought leaders and changemakers to outline a progressive new vision for next-generation civic engagement, economic security, justice and shared prosperity in the United States.
For this discussion, Ramos welcomed Cristina Jimenez, Executive Director and Co-Founder of United We Dream; Calvin Williams, Cultural Strategist at Movement Strategy Center; and Surina Khan, CEO of the Women’s Foundation of California.
Together the panel discussed actionable innovations and strategies in civic engagement; emerging modalities in public activism; and impactful efforts to advance multicultural leadership development, public advocacy and community organizing.
Presented in partnership with Arte Público Press, this virtual discussion series is part of a research and public engagement project led by author and researcher Henry A. J. Ramos to surface actionable ideas for reinvigorating American democracy and prosperity sharing in the 21st century.
His forthcoming book, Democracy and the Next American Economy: Where Prosperity Meets Justice, will be published by Arte Público Press on April 30, 2019. Visit artepublicopress.com for details.
