Encounters Arts and Brixham Heritage Museum present The Fish Hawkers of Brixham Documentary film, produced by Emberlense Productions .
Fish Hawkers looks to reveal the hidden lives of the women working in the fishing industry over the past 150 years in Brixham and the marine life that supports the industry.
The film tells the story of in 1864 about a group of women, helped by Lord and Lady Churston, who won the right to continue selling fish in Brixham. It continues to the modern day with the amazing group of women who made aprons and banners to celebrate the lives of women in Brixham past and present. Plus Maggie Duffy Music wrote a new song about the story and was performed in Brixham as part the Fishstock Festival 2018.
