A world covered by radioactive dust has killed all the animals. There are few inhabitants who do whatever they can to have a real animal at home, since most of them, just can afford an electric one.
This is how Philip K. Dick describes the future in his novel “Do Androids dream with electric sheep?” A story where unreality comes upon reality.
Tropical X starts from this imaginary topic in order to play with the idea of this kind of “electric future/present time” where our needs can be created and real things can be replaced - breaking most of the time equilibrium.
The video installation involves the natural environment and its constant change. Placing some electric birds in a wild and tropical place as if they where part of it, as if they were a new specie. In the end everything gets out of hand as if they were real and they start to kill each other, therefore losing the reason for having been created and needed.
