2011 has been a busy year for Treetop Flyers. Regulars on the Communion club night circuit in the UK, it was winning the coveted 2011 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Contest that has thrust these five guys into the spotlight at long last. Formed in 2009, Reid Morrison (guitar, lead vocal), Sam Beer (guitar, vocals), Tomer Danan (drums, vocals), Laurie Sherman (guitar) and Matthew Starritt (bass, vocals), create Americana-tinged country rock with obvious influences from the likes of Neil Young and Van Morrison.
It was at one of the aforementioned Communion nights that we first saw Treetop Flyers. Blown away by their live set, we bided our time during their hectic festival and touring schedule before grabbing our opportunity to film them a few weeks back in West London.
With good weather on our side, we met the chaps at South Ealing Cemetery. An odd location, you might say, but the peace and quiet on the lanes between the graves proved to be a lovely spot for some chilled out acoustic renditions of their latest single “It’s About Time” on a sunny afternoon!
“It’s About Time” was released on Monday 19th September on Communion Records and can be purchased on iTunes or physically via the Communion website. Treetop Flyers continue to tour relentlessly, taking their version of southern soul-folk to packed out venues around the country. Check out their website for upcoming dates and be sure to check them out soon. You won’t be disappointed.
