Streets, squares, parks, supermarkets and internet portals, along with many other sites, have become home to the stage of urban life that allows us to display our everyday actions and behaviours. As such, they have in turn become a topic for the artist.
The exhibition The World as a Stage uses the increasing trend towards lifestyle theatre as an opportunity to confront the viewer with an alternative life model, and to show how existing forms of self-staging can be reinterpreted in an emancipating fashion.
In their work, the participating artists mediate among art, media staging, and real life. The exhibition is a combination of performance, video and photography, as well as the staging of virtual and architectural platforms that challenge the existing conventions of the theatrical.
