MASA is now offering microcredentialing — on-demand professional development for district leaders that allows you to schedule professional learning when it’s convenient for you and your schedule. Microcredentials allow superintendents and central office administrators to gain the training they need to become leaders in their field, while mastering those 21stcentury skills that their students will also need to know. Educators are lifelong learners, and it’s important for us to learn in the same way – using the same tools – that our students will be learning.
MASA’s first offering in the Inspire Innovation series is a Communications Microcredential, which consists of five modules:
Module 1: Communications Law
Module 2: Building the Foundation of a Communications Plan
Module 3: Developing a Communications Plan
Module 4: Being an Effective Communicator and Working with the Media
Module 5: Communicating in a Crisis
This microcredential’s purpose is to build and assess participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities to confidently and capably serve in the frequent communications role of a district or school leader. Learners will understand key elements of communications practice in education – including proactive, operational, and crisis communications – as well as necessary concepts of communications law. Learners will apply the knowledge gained from each module by creating or refining their own communications plan, which can be either district/school-wide or issue-specific.
