The United States military has invested in robotics for decades for applications from long-range reconnaissance and surveillance to directly interacting with and supporting soldiers on the ground. However, over much of that time, its programmatic and technical approaches to robotics have remained traditional and monolithic. Supported by robotics development companies, academic researchers, the U.S. Government, and the Open Source Robotics Foundation itself, ROS-Military is a multi-faceted approach to effectively bringing the collaborative success of the ROS ecosystem to U.S. military robotics and, wherever possible, contributing its achievements back to the global ROS community.
