Module 2: What Defines our Success | Vignette 1
One of the board’s responsibilities is to monitor and evaluate health center activities, such as productivity, achieving performance goals related to health center finances, and compliance with health center grantee regulations. Success in these areas could be defined as having money in the bank, satisfied provider staff, achieving industry productivity standards, and demonstrating compliance in federal grant reviews. But for a health center patient--for me and probably for most of you board members--a top-notch health center is a place where we’re sure we’ll always receive high quality services whether we’re sick or trying to stay healthy; a place where we’ll be able to get an appointment; and a place where we’ll be welcomed, supported, and treated with respect. As you watch this vignette, think about success from the perspective of patients served by this health center, or from the perspective of your own expectations about how you should be treated.
