When the Royal College of Music in Stockholm was reconstructed in 2016, one of the aims of the new building was to create a more transparent and accessible environment for musical education. This was a.o. expressed through glass façades and windows between corridors and rehearsal rooms, transparent materials and large open spaces where rhythmical, winding stairs and balconies meet psychedelic wall panels and heavy technical equipment. In “Ögats vandring”, a camera travels through the building, exploring its various rooms and spaces, providing a hypnotic voyage where borders between what is up and down, inside and outside, are dissolved. Towards the end of the film, we catch a glimpse of a female student rehearsing: surprised, she turns her head to the camera. “Ögats vandring” has been produced as part of the project “Musikakademin” (2018), initiated by Cecilia Josefsson as a follow-up to her radio documentary ”Don Juan på Musikhögskolan”, which was broadcasted in Sveriges Radio P2 in 2017. The concert-installation “Musikakademin”, where the film constitutes one part, will be performed in public for the first time at Konstepidemin in Gothenburg, October 6th 2018. The piece will later be performed in Stockholm and Oslo. Still images and more information can be found here: malinpetterssonoberg.com/ogats-vandring-2018/
