By combining online learning with in-classroom teaching, a strategy known as “blended learning,” Washington’s public schools can find effective new ways to improve education and operate more efficiently in a time of stiff budget cuts.
Blended learning is but one of several innovations that can transform public schools, according to Michael Horn, Executive Director of Education at the Innosight Institute, who recently addressed a group of local educators and business leaders at the Washington Education Innovation Forum in Seattle. Horn said blended learning and other innovations allow teachers to take on new professional roles and use classroom time more effectively.
