Lemko Tower Youth Ensemble from Lemkiushchyna, Poland, played to a huge audience at the opening night at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival 2011. They were one of the many cultural groups that performed at North America's largest Ukrainian Festival.
Lemko Tower is a community based song and instrumental group which is driven by enthusiasm and love of their ancestral culture. They formed in 2005 as a part of the Association of Lemko Culture Enthusiasts in Strzelce Krajenskie, Poland. There are 22 members in the ensemble between the ages of 16 and 25. The group has gained popularity at the Ukrainian festivals in Poland thanks to their dynamic performance and modern approach to folk music. They have appeared in almost 200 concerts and perform frequently at the Lemko Vatras in Zdynia and Lugi, Poland. Lemko Tower has recorded several CDs: Christmas Carols (2005), The Scent of the Spring Breeze (2006), Lemko Tower Live in Gorzow (2007) and Spivanochky (2009). Spivanochky won 3rd place in the folk performers' competition Virtualni Husli (Virtual Violins).
