Dr. Andersons research program is concerned with the fabrication and application of microporous ceramic materials that are synthesized using sol-gel methods. These high surface area materials can be made to be conducting, semiconducting, or insulating and are then used as catalysts, photocatalysts, ultracapacitors, batteries, fuel cells, gas and liquid filters, high-temperature gas phase reactors, adsorbents, coatings, etc. His team has now had more than 25 issued patents related to these materials and their applications.
