music/video/text: Keir Neuringer (2006)
An Abridged List of Options sets to music made with digital synthesis and analogue feedback an abridged (i.e. shortened or incomplete) list of verbs in the imperative case. One could understand them as commands, or options, or suggestions for what to do in the world. By presenting negatives and positives with equal intensity, the film encourages observers to reexamine their preoccupations within (and relationships to) daily actions, both locally and globally. The text interacts with abstract video and the music in a choreography that instigates a cross-perceptual understanding of all three.
Video created in 2006 at the ArtScience Institute and TAG in The Hague using raw footage from a residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
