The official dedication for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Monument was postponed due to Hurricane Irene. The original date was scheduled for August 28, 2011, which would have been the anniversary for the March on Washington. The memorial is still viewable to the public prior to the official dedication. The Thankful Revolution was on location, September 16, 2011 and able to capture several visitors share about the importance of having a memorial for King here in Washington, D. C. Also, on September 18, 2011 an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. brother gives further insight into the historical significance of King’s memorial.
