A program of talks and films presented by the NYPL for the Performing Arts and Third World Newsreel honoring this filmmaking couple who have made important and provocative films and art, while also building and maintaining a library and archive of African American art, writings and much much more. This free program on October 15, 2018 was copresented by Creatively Speaking, Black Public Media, the Media and Communications Department of the City College of New York and the Black Documentary Collective. Speakers included: Elena Rossi-Snook, JT Takagi, Michelle Materre, Valerie Smith, Mable Haddock, George C. Wolfe, Louis Massiah, Lewis Erskine and Kay Shaw. This program was made possible in part by an Action Grant from Humanities New York and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
