The church gathers to go! Unfortunately, many churches today have forgotten or flat rejected their royally decreed mission of making disciples. We must not forget that we gather to go! One of the primary intentions of our weekly worship gathering is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. This work of equipping is two-fold. It works to (1) equip God's people to serve those on the inside (the church family)-which contributes to the church's mission of reflecting God before the world-and (2) those on the outside. The best way we can serve those on the outside (the world) is by proclaiming to them the Gospel! Furthermore, as the Spirit of God works through the Word of God to conform the people of God more and more to the image of the Son of God, the result is a people transformed to embody the Savior before the watching world. We gather to embody! Our community should consistently put the love of God on display for the watching world to see. Good works and honorable living should flow from our fellowship so that the lost might see our good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation (1 Peter 2:12). As the church goes, we must both embody the King and proclaim the King so that more and more people may be reconciled to God and brought into our church family. Let's go!
