Guy Lewis and his family moved back to Ord, NE from Portland, OR to be closer to family. One difficulty when moving to a smaller community can be that the jobs don’t align with your background. For Guy, that meant the perfect opportunity to create his own opportunities and start Valley Fire Pottery.
The idea for the business came from being asked to teach classes on pottery which is what he had spent much of his professional career on the West coast doing. Though a combination of gallery and production are local, he can also use the power of the internet to sell world-wide.
The location that became available for this business ended up being on the town square and allowed his business model to expand from just a pottery production business to a coffee shop and gallery.
