The Barry Farm neighborhood is located in Ward 8, east of the Anacostia River and just southwest of Historic Anacostia, in southeast Washington, DC. The Barry Farm Redevelopment includes Barry Farm and the adjacent Wade Road Apartments, a total of 444 public housing units. As part of the New Communities Initiative, it will be redeveloped into a mixed-use, mixed-income community. Barry Farm is conveniently located amid a hub of transit activity, adjacent to two arterial highways: Interstate 295, and Suitland Parkway, as well as the Anacostia Metro Station. The neighborhood is also in close proximity to a cultural center, as well as many public facilities including schools and the new Barry Farm Recreation Center.
