Nearly eighty years ago three men started a social research project that empowered the public to record history from their perspective.
That project was entitled Mass Observation.
Now housed in the University of Sussex it continues to document the opinions and thoughts of the British people that contribute to it.
What the project was and is today, is explored through interviews with the staff who tend to it, the academics who use it and most importantly the people that write for it.
Memories of past stories the archive contains are also brought to life through dramatisations that provide windows into how ordinary Britons lived, loved and died.
