Homestead and Florida City, FL are the southern-most towns in Miami-Dade County and are home to one of South Florida's largest Mexican and Central American communities. Many of these migrants work in the agriculture sector, which supplies much of the Eastern U.S. with fresh vegetables throughout the winter months.
September is a time of soil preparation and planting for the season ahead, and is also a time to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day in parks and schools.
