From video footage shot November 27, 1994, Elliot "Junior" Manigault makes cane syrup (molasses) from a process passed down generation to generation beginning with his great-grandfather--or ancestors before him--Jim Rumph. Jim Rumph (1810 - 1912!) was enslaved at Woodlands Plantation and remained on the property after the Civil War. His son bought part of the plantation property in 1921.
