ARTISTS' COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATOR RESIDENCY
The Artists’ Community Administrator Residency is designed to provide creative time and space for practicing artists of all disciplines who also have a full-time position at an artists’ community.
Shervone Neckles is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and community worker. She draws
inspiration from the duality and transitional nature of her Afro-Grenadian American identity. Her
work embraces alternative printmaking techniques, animations, book arts, installation, sculpture,
textiles, and community wellness initiatives. Her explorations blend surface with depth; past with
the present; real with imaginary; and sincerity with humor. Shervone resides in southeast Queens
with her partner, artist José M. Ortiz, and her five-year-old son. She is the Artist Programs Manager
in Professional Development at Joan Mitchell Foundation in New York City.
