Lucy Live by Puck Verkade
on Daata Editions
'LUCY LIVE' is a dystopian take on the story of human evolution through the eyes of early human ancestor Lucy.
Various modes of image production, like claymation, low-res animation, altered found footage and on-cam performance, are entangled to co-exist in 'Lucy Live', a sextet of moving collages zapping back and forth between TV channels as speculative realities. Fictionalized reconstructions of early human ancestor Lucy feature as some kind of multidimensional species meets TV show host, who reflects with her doubles on the troubling story of human evolution.
