Oakley Creek / Te Auaunga, one of Auckland’s longest urban streams, flows for 15kilometres from Hillsborough through Mt Roskill, and out to the Waitematā Harbour.
A decade or two ago the creek was polluted, rubbish-strewn and weed-infested and there was a proposal for State Highway 20 to be extended through the catchment. That was too much for some locals. Time for action and this video shows what the Friends of Oakley Creek have been up to.
