Over two hundred gathered in the early morning hours to ride from Philadelphia, PA to Cape May, New Jersey to honor a man and his ideals.
Team Foster was founded in 2014 by Nick Liermann to honor a friend and hero killed in action. Erick Foster was an inspiration to many. He pushed himself and motivated everyone around him to be better–to go a little farther, to give a little more. Team Foster raises money to partner service dogs with tri-state area veterans suffering from combat-related disabilities including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). We ensure these dogs are obtained, cared for and provided a specialized training team – all at no cost to our veterans. We want to make sure there is No Hero Left Behind.
The U.S. military nor the VA nor the government provide funding or support for service dogs for veterans. While service dogs are vital tools in rehabilitation and recovery, they are also expensive and resource intensive. One service dog can take two years and more than $25,000 to properly prepare to partner. Team Foster raises money to provide trained service dogs at no cost to local veterans #NoHeroLeftBehind.
The Foster 100 is our signature fundraising event that tests physical and mental strength. A fully supported and escorted ride, cyclists pedal 100 scenic miles from Philadelphia to Cape May, all with the same thought - "Charlie Mike" which in military terms means "Complete The Mission."
