Once upon a time (in the 1960s), in a kingdom far, far away (a college campus in upstate New York) a prince (ok, a psychology professor) discovered the key to understanding these strange creatures called humans that roamed through the kingdoms. Fairytales aside, what Dr. Graves (our prince) developed was a model that explained adult human development, as well as societal development at large. His seven value systems can be used to explain issues ranging from U.S. partisan conflict, or the surprising sustainability of authoritarian regimes, to why you and your roommate keep arguing about the toilet paper (and they are just not getting it!).
Having just completed her degrees in International Business and Comparative Literature, Sophie is travelling the world and following her passions of observing human behavior and cultures across the globe - often with the help of the theory of value systems, which she has studied extensively.
