Tropical Storm Irene devastated towns throughout Vermont. It left thousands displaced without electricity or access to clean water. Crops were destroyed, homes were swept away, roads collapsed, but in the wake of the storm stood a brave little state.
Only days after the storm made its way through Vermont, local artists and businesses came together to organize Brave Little State -- a benefit to serve those who have been affected by Tropical Storm Irene.
Held at Higher Ground on September 23, the event kicked off with DJ Disco Phantom and comedian Pat Lynch performed between the sets of four local bands: Rough Francis, The Wee Folkestra, Chamberlin, and Amida Bourbon Project. The benefit raised additional support with a food drive and silent auction.
The event was generously sponsored by 104.7 The Point, Seven Days, Higher Ground, and OKAY!! OKAY!!. It generated over $2,000 and an overwhelming amount of clothing, toys and food for those in need.
