Limbic Limbo is a composition for drums, smartphones , and intelligent loudspeakers called CLOUDSpeakers. In a first part, the sound of the drums are streamed on a local WLAN and dispersed in the audience. The time-delays in the reception invoke a gathering of real sound sources (as opposed to virtual panning in a stereo set of loudspeakers), similar to walking in a forest. In a second part, the drums trigger predefined sounds which are synthesized realtime on a raspberry pi, piggybacked an a battery-powered loudspeaker. These sounds are played back in sync, but vary in color. In this way the time dispersion (the 'horizontal') is opposed to the harmonic dispersion (the 'vertical'), in one piece.
