This series of pastel abstractions and small acrylic paintings by Jane Shoenfeld are in response to W.B. Yeats' prophetic poem, "The Second Coming." Yeats wrote this visionary poem in the wake of the Irish Revolution and the First World War. "The Second Coming" is 22 lines long. Each painting relates to a line or a section from the poem.
This presentation includes a live video and images of individual paintings with voice-overs of lines from the poem. By including visual, written, and audio components, these semi or totally abstract pieces move within the mind, into the receptive unconscious, the collective, and the imagination.
Another series of Shoenfeld’s paintings in response to poetry is located on Vimeo as "Abstracts of Nature."
