Dapoxetine HCL (129938-20-1) Description
Dapoxetine Hydrochloride is a short acting selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used specifically for the treatment of premature ejaculation in men aged between 18 and 64 years. This medicine should not be taken by men who are not diagnosed with premature ejaculation (PE). Dapoxetine Hydrochloride works by inhibiting the serotonin transporter, increasing serotonin's action at the post synaptic cleft, and as a consequence promoting ejaculatory delay. As a member of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) family, dapoxetine Hydrochloride was initially created as an antidepressant. However, unlike other SSRIs, dapoxetine Hydrochloride is absorbed and eliminated rapidly in the body. Its fast acting property makes it suitable for the treatment of PE but not as an antidepressant.
