La Saga is a converted farm building in the heart of the village of Pernes les Fontaines. This film shows the character of the house and is large open spaces inside.
Stepping out of a narrow, winding street in the heart of Pernes you find yourself in a scene from the Arabian Nights – or might it be Petrarch? An enclosed courtyard holds a spring-fed pool, a wide terrace, greenery galore, a wooden pergola, romantic lighting: poetry that on a warm summer's night would melt the heart of the toughest pragmatist. From here into the 21st century: a cool haven of space with an airy feel, a minimalist décor, earth colours, natural fabrics, and plain good taste. Quirky touches, too. You'll want to stay a while to experience both worlds, the ice-cube lamps against the old stonework, the Art Deco style and the abstract art. Comfortable bedrooms have quiet style, the excellent kitchen has an extraordinary quantity of crockery, cutlery, platters and baskets, and the living area's 30s-style leather sofas open arms to a superior music system; the owner is a professional musician. Just up from the market square yet quieter than the countryside: no tractors, no roosters. Fine dining, festivals great and small, history, art and winegrowers are all around you.
We have tried to capture all these qualities for the owner.
