Glamis Adventure Playground in Shadwell, East London, holds many secrets that only the children who play there can tell us about. Their voices narrate this piece, so listen out for some interesting new perspectives on the playground itself, play, and childhood as it is unfolding in East London.
This rough cut of some footage I shot at Glamis in May of 2011 can hopefully serve to introduce a new audience to the wonders of Glamis, the power of play, and the necessity of adventure playgrounds not only in East London but throughout the world (we in the US could take a hint?).
This video project would not have been possible without the generous help and support of the playworkers who work at Glamis:
and other Glamis playworkers and volunteers whose names I do not know. . .
. . . and without the expert facilitation of Penny Wilson at Play Association Tower Hamlets (PATH).
Thank you for your inspiring play(work)!
